ABOUT US

Born in Marseille, with European ambitions

Hempcore Solutions was founded in Marseille—a city with deep historical ties to industrial hemp. As a major Mediterranean port, Marseille played a key role in the production, processing, and trade of hemp from the Middle Ages through the 19th century.

Here’s a fun fact: the city’s main boulevard, La Canebière, takes its name from the Provençal word "canebe", meaning cannabis. The street was once lined with rope-makers, supplying the maritime industry with essential hemp products.

That era may be long gone, but the legacy lives on—and Hempcore Solutions is proud to carry it forward across Europe.

Meet the person behind Hempcore Solutions

Gilles Messiaen

Founder

I discovered industrial hemp during my university studies and immediately fell in love with the plant and the wide range of solutions it offers. After working as a broker in the renewable energy sector, I knew it was time to follow my true passion—hemp. Recognizing the growing demand for high-quality French hemp, I relocated to Marseille to turn that passion into reality and bring Hempcore Solutions to life.

The name Hempcore Solutions speaks for itself—at the core of our business is hemp, along with the sustainable, forward-thinking solutions it makes possible.

Sustainability

Thanks to its unique characteristics, widespread cultivation, and diverse applications, Cannabis sativa L. (the Latin name for industrial hemp) has been found to directly impact at least 64 of the 169 targets across 15 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set out in the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda.

At Hempcore Solutions, we focus on several of these SDGs, as outlined below:

No Poverty

A diversification in the type of Cannabis product manufactured (health related prodcts, cosmectics, food and foodstuff, energy bioplastics, textile, etc.) is desirable to reduce farmer's vulnerability to market price variations, and contribute to local or self-sufficiency.

Responsible Production and Consumption

Industrial hemp is the perfect candidate to contribute to increased value-added and productivity in the agricultural sector. For instance, partially substituting cotton fields with industrial hemp crops can increase productivity while drastically reducing water consumption for irrigation

Ecosystems and life on land

Industrial hemp is best planted with a wide range of other plants which fosters biodiversity and enhance flowering industrial hemp to become a source of pollen for bees.

Numerous studies have shown that industrial hemp can help in phytoremediation and phytoextraction for contaminated soil and waters.
